sales gap between truck sales and auto income expands

A larger gap grew between car sales and pickup truck sales over Oct. This space in between the amount of trucks obtained and number of cars obtained is a bit shocking. The presumption would be that in a down economy, more people would be buying economical, gas-sipping cars with a low sticker price. More pickup trucks, nevertheless, were really sold than cars. Less cars selling when more trucks are selling

October auto sales made for a banner month. The public stopped buying Toyota because of lawsuits and recalls which made it the only automaker to not post gains for the month. USA Today reports that 54 percent of new auto sales were from trucks too. There are incentives offered by Ford and Dodge where Dodge has its "60-Day Handshake" promotion so everyone who buys a Dodge Ram pickup can return the truck in 60 days while Ford had its zero-percent financing on auto loans for new pickups. The figure includes pickups, but also cars that technically use a “truck” chassis. The figure also represents sales of SUVs, minivans and other vehicles that fall under the heading.

The price of gas didn't make a difference

Fuel consumption is something that car buyers are aware of. Sales of hybrids are slowly but surely increasing, as are small cars that sip from the tank. That hasn’t slowed the sale of full size pickups. Gas is around $2.80 a gallon right now. Back when the truck and SUV craze had been going, it had been less than $2 per gallon. Work automobiles are what the majority of the purchases were for. Most businesses haven't been able to afford to replace work vehicles such as trucks and vans because they don't have the auto credit needed.

Trucks keep on coming

Selling trucks is great for automakers. They love to sell them. The F 150 which will debut with a turbo-charged V6 soon is the best selling pickup in the truck and is made by Ford. Don't forget that Chevrolet, GMC and Dodge all sell a lot too.
