New Weight Watchers point system goes beyond calorie consumption

Weight Watchers participants in the United Kingdom, and soon within the United States, can have a brand new numerical system to keep track of their food intake. Weight Watchers states the new system, called ProPoints, is more in line with current scientific knowledge. The brand new points program is also due for release within the United States. It most likely won’t be called ProPoints, though.

A new point-counting system had been begun by Weight Watchers within the United Kingdom. Called ProPoints, this system reevaluates the “point value” of most foods. It can be zero points, mostly, to eat any vegetables and fruits. Alcohol and fast food “treats” will even be worked into the points program. The new point system will take into consideration protein, carbs, fiber, and fat, instead of just calorie consumption.

The points of Weight Watchers

In the last few years, the "Momentum" Weight Watchers program has been using points. Each and every day, a certain number of "points" is given to an individual that is on Weight Watchers. Food manufactures by Weight Watchers has points already to them. Any food can have it calculated though. Those on the diet will watch what they eat. They limit the amount coming in with the points.
