I Heart Boobies rubberbandz mix schooling debate

Brianna Hawk, 13, and Kayla Martinez, 12, fully support cancer of the breast awareness. They wear "I Heart Boobies" wristbands to announce it to the world, but apparently Easter Area Middle School would rather they keep it quiet, accounts the Associated Press. It then became a free speech issue, which the American Civil Liberties Union was happy to elevate into a lawsuit against the school district on behalf of the middle-school girls.

Wristbands with ‘I Heart Boobies’ for only $4

The first case for the breast cancer awareness product was filed with the "I Heart Boobies" lawsuit that was filed for Kayla Martinez and Brianna Hawk, the American Civil Liberties Union thinks. In Carlsbad, CA, Keep A Breast Foundation is run. The "I Hear Boobies" rubber wristbands that students love come from there. School officials in Easton argue the slogan invites inappropriate discussion and "trivializes a serious illness.". Throughout the U.S., many educational facilities have banned the wristbands.

Dress rules

Kayla and Brianna had their parents’ permission to wear the "I Heart Boobies" wristbands, however schooling authorities felt they posed too much of a distraction. After the schooling principal spoke with the girls, they agreed to wear the rubberbandz inside-out, which obscured the "I Heart Boobies" slogan but left a breast cancer awareness site URL exposed. The Easton Area Middle School dress rule was apparently being broken which the eventual decision of the school.

Dispute about being vulgar

There’s an issue with the Easton School code getting broken with the "I Heart Boobies" bracelets. It’s because the word "boobies" seems on them. The school had no issue with its teachers wearing Breast cancer Awareness Month T-shirts to school during October. The word "breast" appeared on those T-shirts. AP reports the ACLU will say that "boobies" might be "silly and irreverent, however not lewd or indecent," in part of the free speech lawsuit. The ACLU will ask that the school district end the ban on "I Heart Boobies" wristbands and honor Kayla and Brianna’s First Amendment rights. The suit also would have the girls have the expulsion lifted from scholastic record while also allowing the girls to attend all schooling functions once again.
