Saint Nick is feeling the pinch of the recession, and it has made him desperate. Retail sales are better than this past year, but Santa Claus is running an entirely different operation. He needs to make a change. Sadly, it appears that change may have involved illegal activity. Which makes the Rhode Island newspaper headline "Santa Claus burglarizes yacht club" just another sign of the times, accounts The Providence Journal.
Bad Santa Claus robs wealthy yacht club
Do not question if there is a Santa, because he proved to one yacht owner he does exist. Robbing a liquor store would be one thing, but when Santa Claus robs a yacht clubhouse, you know he’s kicking it upscale. Around 7 p.m. a man dressed as Santa Claus entered the East Providence Yacht Club on Pier Road Sunday evening based on Providence Police Department's Lt. Raymond Blinn. He intended to fill up his gift bag with money instead of handing out toys. It was noted that Saint Nick wasn't so saintly when he pulled out what appeared to be a gun of some type.
Fortunately nobody was hurt at the yacht clubhouse, and Santa did not turn into a complete Grinch and did not even fire his gun.
Could have been a deadly Christmas
Buckshot isn’t typically associated with Santa Claus, which makes this craven display of felonious holiday cheer all the more jarring. True believers may have found themselves a bit confused at this display of ignorance. Santa Claus was also wearing jeans, which isn't so traditional. That’s not elf-standard attire. Patrick Swayze would have picked up on the ruse immediately and dished out some "Roadhouse"-style justice. If it was indeed Santa Claus, he could easily fly up the chimney to escape a roundhouse kick.
Santa did get away, however he is still being hunted by area police.
