The Yahoo login and Yahoo email website was presenting problems to users today. About five percent of Yahoo’s workforce is being let go today. The login issues may or may not be connected to these staffing changes. The Yahoo business is fighting the image of a business in free fall. These layoffs and problems with login are not doing anything to fight this image. This layoff puts more individuals in the payday loans line. login and offerings for Yahoo down
This morning, in scattered reports on the web, customers were saying that the Yahoo login was not functioning. Yahoo services for instance Yahoo Email, Yahoo Buzz and Yahoo News were not accepting user logins. Several outside mail services documented that Yahoo Mail servers were down. All Yahoo services were intermittently working at 11:30 a.m. Pacific Time Tues.
Documented to be Yahoo layoffs
Monday night, the New York Times reported that rumors were circulating about Yahoo layoffs. Between 600 and seven-hundred employees, about 5 percent of employees, can be laid off, accounts many sources Tuesday. Yahoo's products group, which includes Yahoo mail and other major goods at Yahoo, will be where the layoffs occur. Department heads in Yahoo were warned a few days ago to prepare for layoffs of up to 20 percent of their workforce. This came from the head of Yahoo's products division.
Yahoo won't enable an AOL acquisition
In early 2009, Carol Bartz took over the CEO position for Yahoo. She states the company has been trying to develop ways for "users to interact in social fashions" which has been worked on a lot. AOL was considering making an acquisition offer for Yahoo just a little bit ago. Now the offer is no longer there. It was never officially made either. A combined AOL/Yahoo business would have been terrible for the workforce, as more individuals would have been let go than are now. That means it was probably good for the Yahoo layoffs to take place along with the AOL offer being taken off of the table.
