On Sunday, Oct. 3, the United States govt issued a terrorist warning and travel advisory. The caution is for Americans set to travel abroad. American travelers are advised to be especially cautious when traveling in Europe. Comparable advisories were issued by Japan and also the United Kingdom. The cautions were issued after a possible Al Qaeda plot was disclosed. The trail of the possible plot leads to Germany. The German government does not believe any real threat exists.
U.S. alert leads to Japan terror alert
The Japanese government has given a terror alert to citizens going abroad. The notice is a caution to any Japanese nationals traveling to Europe. People going abroad on holiday or for business purposes are warned to be cautious in public places. The warning stresses being careful when using public transport and when sightseeing in popular tourist locations, according to the Christian Science Monitor. The U.S. State Department gave a similar caution before the Japan terror warning was given. A U.K. terror alert was also issued after the announcement from Washington. The C.I.A.is who everyone wants to hear from. There hasn’t been anything yet.
Danger could possibly be from Germany quite possibly
Cable News Network explains that the arrest of a German citizen is where the Al Qaeda plot for terrorism in Europe was first heard of. Ahmed Sidiqi, Algerian by descent, left Hamburg for Pakistan in 2009 with 10 others, where they were recruited by a jihadist group. Sidiqi was captured as they fought coalition forces in Afghanistan. Sidiqi decided to convert to Shia from Sunni. He attended, in Hamburg, the Taiba mosque. The group was recruited from there. Mohammed Atta was known to go to the Taiba mosque. Atta was the leader in charge of the 9/11 attacks that took place.
The real risk
Three governments have already issued warnings of caution. This makes the threats seem more severe than before. Seems like like the German intelligence services aren’t so sure. They seem skeptical of the whole thing. It is safe to go to either Hamburg or Stuttgart, states the German government to all those who care.
