A recent live performance saw a potential major health scare for legendary rock and roller Berry. Berry almost passed out in the course of a show in Chicago. He slouched over against a piano, and had to be escorted offstage. However, he is now in strong condition. The 84 year old living legend is resting at his home.
At Chicago concert, Berry nearly passes out
On New Years, Berry was in a concert at the Congress Theater in Chicago. While performing, Berry went to the electric piano and sat down. Then he began to slump over in front of everyone. Then Berry waved because he needed help. Then he went offstage immediately. A half hour later, he came back so enthusiasts would know he was okay. Then the dance step he made famous, "duck walk," was done by him. The "duck walk" was copied by a lot of different individuals. Angus Young of AC/DC was the most famous. Berry had been feeling ill that evening, and he returned home to St. Louis the next day.
A Chuck Berry concert reschedule
The live performance is already rescheduled for January 19 and is sold out, as outlined by Yahoo News. Berry is said to be active and in exceptional health at 84 years of age, however he simply was fatigued. On New Year's Eve, Berry performed 2 concerts. The next night, he flew to Chicago.
Stronger than ever
Not many musicians have the longevity and influence of Berry. Berry has been the influence for artists like the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Ted Nugent, AC/DC and legions while he has recorded since the 1950s. The song “Johnny B. Goode” contains perhaps the best known rock ‘n’ roll guitar riff ever recorded, and other hits like “Roll Over Beethoven” and “Maybellene,” among others, are all part of the bedrock of rock and roll. The genre is personified by Chuck Berry. He is nearly exactly what it is.
